SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR
QUOTE FOR AIR DIFFUSERS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for
air diffusers from USA Bluebook for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund 200 for an estimated
amount of $19,738.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for air diffusers for one of the aeration basins at the
Wastewater Treatment Plant. This equipment is critical for treating
wastewater flows. The current equipment is the original equipment
installed in 1997. This work will not only improve the treatment process,
but is expected to reduce electrical costs. This is for purchase of material
only. The diffusers will be installed by City staff.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted as noted below. USA Bluebook
submitted the lowest quote meeting specifications.

ACT $22,378
Core & Main $24,607.
