AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9, CHAPTER 3
OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS SO AS TO FIX THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED
LIMITS IN CERTAIN DESIGNATED SCHOOL ZONES
OF GR.APEVINE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR
VIOLATION; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
,,,�„ REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine,
Texas has found and determined it necessary to fix the
speed limits in the City of Grapevine; and,
WHEREAS, Section 167 and 169 of Article XIX, R.C.S.
6701d, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, provides
that whenever the governing body of the City shall determine
upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation
that any prima facie speed therein set forth is greater or
less than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found
to exist at any intersection or other place or upon any part
of a street or highway, with the City taking into consider-
ation the width and condition of the pavement and other circum-
stances on such portion of said street or highway, as well as
the usual traffic thereon, said governing body may determine
and declare a reasonable and safe prima facie speed limit
thereat or thereon by the passage af an ordinance, which
shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice
�� thereof are erected at such intersection or other place or
part of the street or highway, now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Grapevine, Texas ; that,
Section l. The City Manager is hereby instructed to have
twenty (20) mile per hour speed limit signs installed in the
designated school zones listed below. The signs shall indicate
that the twenty (20) mile per hour speed limit will be in effect
on school days during the hours of 7: 30 A.M. thru 8: 30 A.M. and
2:00 P.M. thru 4:00 P.M.
TWENTY (20) MILE PER HOUR SCHOOL ZONES
East Worth from the intersection of Austin Street to
the intersection of Ruth Street.
Ruth Street from the intersection of East Worth Street
to the intersection of Cannon Street
� Cannon Street from the intersection of Ruth Street to
the intersection of Austin Street.
Austin Street from the intersection of Cannon Street
to the intersection of East Worth Street.
West College Street from the intersection of Drexel Drive
to the intersection of Ridge Road.
Drexel Drive from the intersection of West College
to the intersection of Holley.
On Pebblebrook 600 feet north from the intersection
of West College.
� Dove Road from the intersection of Sonnet Drive west,
to 800 feet west of Hood Lane.

On Hood Lane north 500 feet from the intersection of
Dove Road.
Section 2 . Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not more
than two hundred ($200) dollars .
Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
confliction herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. If any section or provision of this chapter
shall be declared invalid by account of competent jurisdic-
tion, such adjudication shall not affect the remaining
sections or portions of this chapter.
