AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR APPORTIONING
OF OVERLAPPING EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION
BETWEEN THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AND
THE CITY OF COLLEYVILLE, TEXAS, PURSUANT TO
AND ZN ACCORDANCE WITH TEX.REV.CIV.STAT.
ANN.ART.970 A MUNICIPAL ANNEXATION ACT;
PRGVIDING ROR THE ORDINANCE TO GO INTO
EFFECT WHEN AND IF' SAME IS ALSO APPROVED
BY THE CITY OF COLLEYVILLE; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas , a Home Rule City,
situated in Tarrant County, Texas, and the City of Colleyville,
a General Law City, situated in Tarrant County, Texas , have
boundary lines that are in close proximity to each other; and
WHEREAS, the governing bodies of the two cities pursuant
to and in accordance with Tex.Rev.Civ.Stat.Ann.Art.970 a
Municipal Annexation Act desires to apportion their overlapping
areas of extraterritorial jurisdiction;and
WHEREAS, the two cities are in agreement to take any and
all necessary steps to release any boundary claims heretofore
made by each of the cities in the areas that will be reserved
exclusively to each of the cities; and
�nif-iEREAS, the governing bodies of each of the cities are in
agreement that it is in the best interest of the two municipali-
ties and for the welfare of their respective citizens to reach
an agreement as to the boundary lines of the two cities and to
apportion any overlapping extraterritorial jurisdictions of the
two municipalities.
NOW, THEREF'ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section l. That the City of Grapevine does hereby agree,
pursuant to and in accordance with Tex.Rev.Civ.Stat.Ann.Art.
970 the Municipal Annexation Act that all of the property west
and south of the hereinafter described line is hereinafter ex-
clusively within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City
of Colleyville. The City of Grapevine hereby relinquishes any
claim of extraterritorial rights it may have in said area and
further the City of G rapevin� agrees to take any action that may
be necessary to relinquish any territorial or boundary claims
it may have had in the past into said area. The City of
Grapevine agrees to pass disannexation ordinances if any of its
prior annexation ordinances cover any of the property hereinafter
described that is henceforth to be exclusively within the province
of the City of Colleyville.
The City of Grapevine takes this action in apportioning the
extraterritorial jurisdiction claims between the City of Grapevine
on the condition that the City of Colleyville does hereby or here-
inafter agree, pursuant to and in accordance with Tex.Rev.Civ.Stat.
Ann.Art. 970 the Municipal Annexation Act that all the property
east and north of the z^iereinafter described line is hereinafter
exclusively within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City
of Grapevine. The City of Colleyville hereby relinquishes any
� claim of extraterritorial rights it may have in said area and
further the City of Colleyville agrees to take any action that
may be necessary to relinquish any territorial or boundary claims
it may have had in the past into said area. The City of Colley-
ville agrees to pass disannexation ordinances if any of its prior
annexation ordinances cover any of the property hereinafter de-
scribed that is henceforth to be exclusively within the province
of the City of Grapevine.
The agreed upon line between the municipalities is de-
scribed as follows:
BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the center line
of Big Bear Creek with the South right-of-way line of
State Highway 121 as it stands on September 15, 1975;
THENCE Southeasterly and following the meanderings of the
said center line of Big Bear Creek to its intersection
with the center line of County Road #3038, sometimes called
Pool Road;
THENCE South along the said center line of County Road
#3038 to its intersection with the center line of County
Road #3120, sometimes called Hall-Johnson Road;
THENCE in an Easterly direction along the said center line
of County Road #3120, passing its intersection with County
Road #3024, sometimes called Roberts Road, . and continuing
Easterly along said center line of CountyRnad #3120 to the
Northeast corner of a 20 acre tract of land in the G. W.
Minter Survey, Abstract #1034, said tra ct of land being
annexed by the City of Colleyville by Ordinance #58, dated
January 11 , 195�, and said 20 acre tract of land to remain
in the City of Colleyville.
THENCE South along the East line of said 20 acre tract of
land 1300 feet to its southeast corner;
THENCE West along the South line of said tract of land 525
feet to its most easterly Southwest corner;
THENCE North 722.23 feet to a point for a corner;
THENCE West 330 feet more or less to a point in the East
right-of-way of County Road #3024, sometimes called Roberts
Road;
THENCE Southerly along the said East right-of-way line of
County Road #3024 to its intersection with the North right-
of-way line of County Road #3036, sometimes called Watauga-
Smithfield Road;
THENCE East along the North right-of-way line of County Road
#3036 to the Southwest corner of a tract of land in the G. W.
Minter Survey, Abstract #1034, said tract of land being
annexed by the City of Colleyville by Ordinance #39, dated
December 29, 1956, and to remain in the City of Colleyville;
THENCE North along the West line of the said tract of land
annexed by the City of Colleyville Ordinance #39, 361 feet
more or less to a point for a corner;
THENCE Northeasterly along the north line of the said
Colleyville tract of land 402.78 feet to a point for a corner;
THENCE South along the East line of the said Colleyville
tract of land 458.33 feet to a point for a corner;
THENCE West along the most northern South line of said
Colleyville tract of land 189.89 feet to a point for a

corner;
THENCE South along the most westerly East line of said
Colleyville tract of land 116.67 feet more or less to a
point for a corner, said point being in the North right-of-
way line of the aforesaid County Road #3036;
THENCE Easterly along the said North right-of-way line
of County Road #3036 to its point of intersection with
the East right-of-way line of State Farm Road #157, said
point being the end of the line being described.
All of the property south and west of said line is to be
exclusively within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the
City of Colleyville. The City of Grapevine hereby relinquishes
�' any territorial claim it may have into said territory and agrees
to pass appropriate disannexation ordinances if any prior annexa-
tion ordinances included any of the territory that is to be ex-
clusively within the jurisdiction of Colleyville.
All of the propeity north and east of said line is to be
exclusively within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City
of Grapevine. The City of Colleyville hereby relinquishes any
territorial claim it may have into said territory and agrees to
pass appropriate disannexation ordinances if any prior annexa-
tion ordinances included any of the territory that is to be ex-
clusively within the jurisdiction of Grapevine.
Section 2. That this ordinance is passed contingent upon
and subject to the City of Colleyville approving a similar
ordinance or resolution that is passed pursuant to the Texas
Municipal Annexation Act.

I dispute or claims relative to overlapping boundaries and overlapping claims of extra-
; territorial jurisdiction presehts an emergency relating to the public health, moral
' and general welfare that requires this ordinance to be passed on an emergency basis.
