HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2014-080RESOLUTION NO. 2014-80 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO CONTRACT FOR BUNKER GEAR (PROTECTIVE CLOTHING) FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102 to enter into a cooperative purchasing program agreement with other qualified entities in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) is a qualified purchasing cooperative program as authorized by Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has established an Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) and wishes to utilize an established contract meeting all State of Texas bidding requirements; and ) WHEREAS, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) has established a contract with Casco Industries, Inc., contract #432-13, Public Safety & Fire House Supplies & Equipment; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has a need to purchase bunker gear (protective clothing) for the Fire Department; and WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites for the adoption of this resolution have been met, including but not limited to the Local Government Code and the Open Meetings Act; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that the approval of this resolution is in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase of bunker gear (protective clothing) from Casco Industries, Inc. through an Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) for an estimated annual amount of $70,000.00. Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase of said bunker gear. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 21st day of October, 2014.
