A PROCLAMATION
BY
THE MAYOR OF
GRAPEVINE
WHEREAS thousands of Americans lose their lives each year from
fires that could be prevented; and
WHEREAS great social and economic losses to our city result from
the destruction of homes, business enterprises, industries and natural resources;
THEREFORE, I Ira E. Woods , Mayor of
Grapevine do hereby proclaim the week beginning October 4, 1964,
as Fire Prevention Week.
I call upon all departments and agencies of the city government to
participate actively in a campaign for improved fire safety. The Fire Depart-
ment and the schools of our city can provide effective leadership in the
activities of Fire Prevention Week, and I urge them to work with the Fort
Worth Chamber of Commerce and other organizations for a successful program.
I earnestly request every citizen of the community to take pa rt in
a coordinated effort to make our city a safer community in which to live and
work.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused
the seal of City of Grapevine to be affixed.
