HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-03-02 Regular Meeting� `1 March Z, iqb5 � The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Deqedict, Pirkle , Huber, Vandeventer and Parker. The minutes of the prevbus meeting was read aad approved as read. Mr. Scof�1d, City Attorney, explained the proposed truck route ordir�ance ta the council . No action was taken on this ordinance at this time more study was to be giv�n on this ordinance. A motion by Alderman 1/andeventer, seconded by Alderman Benedict to ask Mr. Morris of �entley-Gordan Associates, 901 Ross Ave. , Dal las, Texas to mettwi th the counc i 1 at the next regular meeting, March 16, i965. Motion carried by Alderman Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Alderman Huber and Secretar, Ezell gave a report on the raeeting they had with Mr. Robert �L�pscomb of Wichita Fa21s in reference to the securing the 31 acres of land next to the City�s s�rm►er lift station oa the Minters Cha pel road for a park site . Mr. Lfpscvmb ' was to advise the city of his decision on this land. ,- A motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to reimburse Secretary EZell for the exact expenses incurred on the trip to Wichita Falls, Texas to talk with Mr. Lipscomb on the park land. Motion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, 1land�venter and Parker voting yes with no noes. The dog situation was discussed by the council to try to improve the catcling and disposing of stray dogs in the city. A motio n by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Pirkle for the secretary to contact the man officer Scruggs has suggested that has had expspience in tchingdogs to see if he wottld be interested in taking a part tim�ere in Grapevine to get rid of the at�ga stray dogs. If the cost for this service compares with what the city is now paying for this service to hire him. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Va�deventer , H�ber, Pirk� and Benedict votfng yes with no noes. A motion by Alderman Pirkle seconded by Alderman Huber to accept the petition for annexation of Mr. Fred Hoyt and wifets 130 � x 175� along E. Dallas Road. And to pass annexation Ordinance # 65-2 annexating IVir. Hoyt land into the City. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedic t, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker votir�g� yes with no noes. : Planning and Zoning Board was to hold a pubiic meeting to zone Mr. Hoyt property that has been brought into the city to "Fn Local Retail Business. A motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Benedict to authorize the installati�n of � street lights at the intersecti�n of Holley stre�t and Drexel Drive , also a light at the corner in Holley street, also a light at the intersection of Easy street and Lovers Lane, and a light at the corner in Easy street. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting ye s wi th no noe s. Council atithorized the secretary to dispose of the old building once used for a sco�t hut in the park. Plans for �e proposed Police Station and water department building was discussed. A motion by Alderman Huber, secarided by Alderman Benedict to com�blete the specifications on the propo�ed bui ldi ng an d ask for bids. Motio n carried by Alderman Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pir�le and Benedict voting yes with no noes. C�ouriGi � approved the constructicn of a concrete retainer wall on the south �ide of easement between lots 6 and 7 in Block 2 of Dellwood A res for National �uilders Supply with the understanding thatif and when lot 6 has been sold or a house built upon it that the retainer wall will be buil� on the north side of the easement same as the one on the south side.
