HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-06-01 Regular Meeting June 1, 1965 � The City Council met in regular session on the abvve date those present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Ber�edi�t. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. The existing Garbage lease was discussed by the City AtLorney and he advised that to continue on with the lease using the option clause. City At�ort�ey was to submit a copy of the livestock Ordinance to the Texas Municipal League legal counsel for their interruptation and advise. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Benedict to amead Sectio� 9 of the Ordinance 65-4, and shail read as follows: "Thfs Ordinance shall take effect and be in Pull force from and after September 1, 1965. ". Motion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by ,4lderman Pirk� to relinquish the lease between the C"ity of Grapevi�e artd the U. S. Corps of Engineers on the �ilver Lake Park ARea, effective July 1, 1965. Motion carried by Alderman Parker, V�ndeventer, Huber , Pirkle and Benedict votir�g yes with no noes. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman B�nedict to adopt and pass Resolution No. R65-6 fixing the Water Rates, for residential use only, for the City of Grapevine, Texas, during the months of June , July and August of the year 1965. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle , Huber, Vandeventer and Parker vo�ing yes with no noes. Conplete Resolutfion on file in City Secretary Office. Th� request to aband the alley ]�,etween Mrs John Trigg and Mrs Maude Trigg places on E. Worth street was denied by the Conn�il. This alley will probably be used for drainage in the near future. The City Council set June 18th, 1965 far the me�ting of the . Board of Equilization and appointed Mr. H. K. Jetton, H. 0. Oatis and Mr. Mack Wi lliamson to �erve on the board for the City. The board will �aeet at the Grapevine School Administrlttion building at 8:30 A.M. till l�:30 P.M. . The School will hold thier board meeting at the same time. The City Conncil authorized a street light to be installed at the , corner of King Street and E. Dallas Road. A motion by Alder�an Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to adopt and pass Resolution No. 65-7, "Approving application for preliminary loan for low-rent public housing . n Motion carried by Aiderman Parker, Vandventer, Huber, Pirkle ar�d Benedict voting yes wlth no noes. A motion by Ald erman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman V�ndeventer to adopt and pass Resolutinn No. R65-8, "Approving execution of cooperation agreement with the Housing Auth ority. Motion carried �y Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle , Huber, V�tndeventer and Parker votirtn y�s � with no noes. A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to annex into the City Scribner street north to its intersectibn with Peach street, by Ordina nce No. 65-6. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Huber, Vande�renter, Bene�ict and Pirkle voting yes with no noes. Complete Ordir�ance on file in the City Secretary Office. A motfon by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Parker to accept the petition of C. W. Carlson and annex approximately .618 acre� of land ,more or less, in the A. F. Leonard Su rvey, �t the intersection of Peach Street and N. Scribner street, be annexed into the city of Grapevine, Texas by Ordinance No. 65-7. Motian carried by Aldermen �Iuber, 1landeventer , Benedict, Parker and Pirkle voting yes with no noes. Compl�te Ordinance on file in the City Secretary office. A motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to accept the amended restrictions on Dove North Addition, submitted by Mr. C. L. Chambers and Mr. Jerry Wil�sfns. Restrictions on fi le in the City Secreta=by �s office. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Parker , Pirkle , Vandeventer and Huber voting yes with no noes. `Secretary was to contact the representatives of the lUhinicipal �etirement System asking them to meet with the conncil to explain '�heir retirement plan to the the city at the next meeting or as soon as possible.
