The City Councii met iA regular session on the above date those
present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Van�deventer, Huber and Benedict.
Aldermen Parker and Pirkle being absent.
The minutes of the previous me,•�ting was read and approved.
Mr. Robert Brown of the Texas Municipal Retirement System expl�ned
to the council the retirement system and the councils part in this
sys tem.
A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderman Huber for the
council to enter into this retirement prograra for the employees
on the 5� basis if the employees are interested in participating
in the retirement program. if the emp�loyees are interested, Mr.
Brown, was to be contacted to explain the r�tirem�nt to the employees.
Moti on carried by Alderman Vandeventer, Hub�rr and Benedict votirtg yes
with no noes.
A motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to ,
rewrite the amendment to Ordinance No.6 and leave out the work
"Private", so the Ordinance will read as foliows; "A stable will
be allowed , etc. " , Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Huber
and Vandevneter voting yes with no rtoe�. Complete amendment to
the Ordinance on fi le in City Secretary office.
A motion by Alderman Vandeventer, seconded by Alderman Benedict
to take bids on black topping the al.ley between Butane Gas Co of
Whitesides and Mr. Stewarts Barber Shop from Bartop Strett to
'South Main street. Motion carried by Alderman Var�deventer, Huber,
and Benedict vot�ng yes with no noes.
The 1965 tax valuation was discussed by the council .
Council recommended that tha Fir� Station be painted when the
new Police Station is painted and paint both buildings a buff color.
