HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-11-16 Regular Meeting Novebmer 16, 1R65 The Ci ty Council met in regular session on the above date those present we� Mayor Pro-tem Parker, Aldermen Huber, Benedict, Pirkle, and Vandeventer. Mayor Woods being absent. Ninutes of the previous meeting was read and approved with the adding of Ele�tic, Plumbing and Building codes to be studed , by the committee. Two firemen Mr. Ernest Tucker and Mr. David Steward met with the council to get any suqgestions th�� the council might have in writting their by-laws, rules and r�gulations for the Fire Department. Also they ask that the council grant permission to the volunteer firemen to install right lfghts on their personal cars in goirtg to fires. The council informed the firemen to draw up their by-laws and then , submit them to the council for their approval . Also they would study and check with the attorney on the legality of putting red li ghts on personal cars. There was held in the Ctty of Grapevine , Texas, on the 16th day of November, A. D. 1965, an election at which was submitted to the du2y qualified resident electors of said city, for their action thereupon, the following roposition: PROPO S I TI ON SHALL THE CHARTER FRAMED BY THE CHARTER COMMI SSION BE APPOROVED AND ADOPTr.D AS THE HOME RULE CH�vRTER OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS? And , Whereas, there were cast at said election 171 votes, of which number there were cast: "YES 11�1 votes . Aldermar� Herbert Huber introduced a Resolution ar�d made a motion thatthe new Home Ru2e Charter of the City of Grapevir�e , Texas be adopted and put into immediate eff�ct. Alderman Guy S. Benedict secand�d the motion for a�optiaa. The mati�n carrying with it the adoptiar� of the resolution;, prevai led by Aldermen Benedict, Pr3W.e, Huber and 1lar�deventer votir�g for the adoption with no r�oes. The Maycrr Pro-tem thereupor� annour�ced that the R�solution had been duly and lawful �.y adopted. The Reso2ution thus adopted reads artd is as fol2ows : RuSQLUTI�N DECLxRING AND PUTTINCi TH�. SAID RESOLUTION S�LL $c, EFFECTIIlE IIVWIEDIHTELY U:PON I TS ADOPTION A mc�tion by Alderman Huber, seconded by �lderman Ben�dict to employ Freeze, Nichols and �,ndress, Cansult9ng Engineers to loak anfl inspect our 100�4C}0 aal2on water stc�rage tank on the carner of Hudqita and Na3 n street. Then draw up specification for having the tank repaired and � stzpervise the repairing of the ta�k, Notfon carried by A2�ermer� Vandever�ter , Huber, Pirkle and Ber�edict voting yes with no noes. DiscusSion was oiven on the purchasing of a n�� tractor. A motian by Aldermen Ber�edict, seconded by Alderman Huber to re,ject all bids on the tractor �t this time . Motion carried by Aldermen Vandev�nter, Huber, Pir�Cle and Bec�er�ict vat�tc� y�s with no rtaes. P,�ayor Pro-tem Parker and A2dermart Pirk2e was ta corttact Mr, lttiack �0illisrnsan and discuss this with him and see what could be worked out. The Zaning Board recammended to the Coun�il th�t the rezanina request of l�nr. V. J. Martirl to rezone lot lOC in the Foster Survey to 'sC-D't fram its present zonina af rrBrr� be denied. A motion by A�derman Vandeventer, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to accept the Zoning �oards recommendation and to disapprove the rezonirtg request of A�r. V. J. 't,4artin of rezoning lot lOC in the F�ster Survey fr�m "B" Dwelling to "C-D" Dwelling. Mation carried by Al�erman Benedict, Pirgle , Huber and Uandev�nter voting yes with no noes.
