HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-12-07 Regular Meeting December 7 , 1965 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Nayor bUoods, Aldermen Benedict , Pirkle , Huber, Vandeventer and Parker . The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by A1dErman Benedict to ask Tip Johnson to give an estimate of cest to extend Vine street from Airline Drive �ast to the South Nain street. ',Nhich include curb and gutter, black top, base rnaterial , etc. and also a concrete slab across the drainage ditch of South Main street. Motion carried, by Aldermen Parker , Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Bened�ct voting yes with no noes. Mr. Wendell Judd , of Parish, �°urrell and Company, Certified Public Accountants, gave the council the audit report for the year er�ding September 30, 1965 and discussed the report with thz council . A motion by Alderman Benedict , seconded by Alderman Parker to take a security bond out on the two girls handffng the collections of water, sewer, aarbage, taxts , etc. in the amount of �2,000. 60 each and also take a bond out on the corporation court judge in the amount �1 ,000.00. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker , Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no rtoes. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Benedict to give notice in the newspaper of a public hearina to be hel� at the City Hall fn s�id City on the 20th day of December at 7 :30 P:ll�. O�clock to consider the annexation of approximately 670 acres of land ad,jacent to the present City Limits of Grapevine . Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pri�le and Benedict voting yes with no noes. A motion by_ A1dErman Vandeventer, seconded by Aldermen Parker to employ Mr . hen Griffin as the tax appraiser for the City for the year 1966 at acost of �35.00 per day for his work with the City paying ane half of this and the school payina the othar half. After discussion with Chief Hall in reference to Patrolman Holman �s work and attitude a moti �n was made by Alderman Firkle, seconded by Alderman Parker to di smiss Mr. Holman from his duties as a city policeman.
