The City Courtci 1 met in a called sessiar� on th� above date for the
purpose of holding a public hearina on several pieces of land to
be annexed into the City af Grapevine along with other business.
Those prese�t were Niayor �3Jaods, Aldermen Huber, Vandevneter, Pirkle
and Benedict. Alderman Parker being absent .
As no property owners appeared to abject ta the annexatian other
business was taken care af at t,h�s time .
The minutes of the previous meetin:g was read and approved as read.
The application for employment of Mr. James Barnett in the police
department was discussed ar�d reviewed by the cour�cil .
A motior� by Alderman Ben�dict, seconded by �?ldermar� Huber to em�oy
ll�r. James Barnett in the paiice department on a three mor�ths trial
period ar prgbationary period far Mr. Barnett and the City at �32,�.Ofl
per month plus the .�IO.QO uniform allcawance , if after this time he
is satisfied and the City is satisfied his salary will be raised
to �3�0.00 per month and he will considered a regular employee.
nl�otion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle , Huber and �andeventer
voting yes with no �aes.
A matias� by filderman Pirk=e, seconded by Alderman V�ndevertter to
authorfze T.P.L. ta install a street light at the corner of
I�inters Chapel �oad artd �., Dall.as Road. PJlotion earried by Aldermen
Uandever�ter, Huber , Pirkle and Benedict vating yes with no noes.
An estimated c�sst to ope� Vine street from Airline Drfve thru to
5outh Main stre�t was aiven by Tip Johnson in the amount af
�2,8?�9.00 for curbinc�, 9utfi.erinc?, cuttina the street, 2aying the
black tc►n and running a concrete dip at the intersection anto
Sc�uth N!ai� street.
A motion by Ald�rman Be�edict, secqnded by Alderman Huber to
proceed with the opertin g of Vine Stree.t frmm Airline Dr. to South
Main STreet, by having the street surveyed and dedicated and
advertising for bids ta do the work of la�ing the bl.ack top,
curb& outters,etc. ?l�iotion carried by Aldermen Huber, Pirkle ,
tlar�devertter and Benedict voting ye�s with na noes.
A motion by Al��rman Huber, seconded by Alderman Pirkle tc� appoint
Floy Ezell. as City Manager of the City of Grapevin;e . t��otion carried.
by Aldermen B2nzdict, Pirkle , Huber and V�.ndeventer voting yes with
no noe s.
Bonds in the amount of �2,000.00 for each T,�frs Izola Jordan and Nrs
Nargaret Lavender and a °�1 ,000.00 bond for Charles Linehan, Corporation
Court Judge , went into effect December 1?, 1965 and to be effective
until September 24, 1966 at a cost of �20.00.
Counci 1 authorized the removal of the speed zone si�s of L�0 and 50
MPH along East Dallas Road.
Telephone alertirlg System for the firem2n ►s was to be checked into
to see about the installation d�te .
The proposed rules and regulations for the Fire Department was
reviewed but no action was taken at this time .
Mr. Joe Bailey Tindle + s property lying in Dallas County was to be
checked a�a�t to see if it had been annexed into some other city.
A motion by Alderman Pirkle , secondad by Alderman Var�deventer to '
have Freeze , Nichols and �ndress to draw up specifications for the
repair of the ground storage tank on Hudgin street and Main street.
Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Vandeventer, Pirkle and Huber
voting yes with no noes.
The regular meeting night of December 21 , 1965 was postponed until
January 1�, 1965. Although their was to be a called meeting
December 30 , 1965. '
