HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-11-20 Regular Meeting November Z0, 19b2 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Johnson, Aldermen Woods, Pirkle , Parker, Harwell, and Deacon. Minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. Alderman Woods gave his report of his conversation with Mr. Leslie Hill , inregards to opening Easy Street on the west side of Sunshine Harbor to Loop 10 for an outlet and extension of Ruth Street to Loop 10. He advised that he received no encouragement or satisfaction from Mr. Hill on this mater. fl Mr. Judd, of Yarish � Murrell , Accountants and Auditors, Dallas, _ Texas met with the cou ncil to go over the City Audit repor� they � had �just compl2ted. Mr. Judd was commended by the council on his � presentation and report of the audit. Discussion was given on the number of inen workiag in the Garbage degartment at the present time . Council agreed to keep all men employed and use one man to clean ��ain Street ,� Jenkins street, and � Barton Street at ttights until after the holidays. � � A motion by Alderman Harwell , seconded by Alderman Deacon, to write Mr. McNutt and ask him to move his stop blocks on the north a side of his parking area back to his property line on Texas Street � so as to prevent any misunderstanding later on. This area will '' be used for public parking and will be marked off as such. Motion }. carried. � A motinn by Alderraan Harwell , seconded by Alderman Deacon to have � the Mayor to work out an arrangement with Mr. Ted Willhoite and Mr. Parker in reference to opening the alley between Lots 4, 5, 9, and 8 in Block 33 of the Grapevine Addition, �o the water will � drain down this alley and off of the property ad,joining this : � alley. Motion carried. A motion by Aiderman Deacon, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to contact the C�ty Attorney and get his opinirn on the validity of ; the City of Grapevine �s Building Permit Ordinance and find out �' which party is responsible for securing this permit before construction begins on any building, the contractor or the owner. D��C�iC�,�(X��3t�X .41so have the attorney give his opinion on ; whom should comp2aints be filed with in the enforcement of a � Deed Restriction for b�tilding in additimns. Motion carried. % � F $ � A motion by Alderman Deacon, seconded by Alderman Harwell to refer the building application of R. W. Kamper to the zoning board if the attorney interupts our ordinance as there might be a question on the issuance of a building permit. ARotion carried. A motion by Alderman Harwell , seconded by Alderman �Noods for the Fire Department in their request for a station waaon, to submit to the council, what use this station wagon wo�ld be, how much it would be used , the benefit of the st�tion wagon, and the approximate cost involved. Motiian carried. The Insurance Saving Plan f or employees was tabled with no action taken. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Parker for the City to oppose the plan of opening the 1962 tax roll as it is so late in the year , and ask the School board to discontinue the idea also for 1962, but if the school continues on with the '. , plan of opening the 1962 tax roll the city will go along as they have agreed.
