HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-04-08 Special Meeting April 8, 1963 The City Council met in a call session on the above date those present were Mayor Johnson, Aldermen Harwell, Parker, Pirkle, and Deacon. The meeting was called due to a request made by Mrc. C. W. Evans and Mr. C. D. Giddiens to have the ballots recounted from the election held on April 2, 1963. This request was withdrawn. A motion by Alderman Deacon, seconded by Alderman Haiwell not to open the ballot box unless a court order was gotten or the persons asking that a recount be made would consent to paying the cost of recounting the votes. The council canvassed the votes on April 2, 1963 and passed a resolution approving the courit. Motion carried, unanimously. A letter from Thomas Love of Arlington was read requesting a franchise from the city to operate a Taxi Cab Service within the city. The City Council asked that a sample franchise to submitted for study before any actian could be taken. A motion by Alderman Rarwell, seconded by Alderman Deacon to sign an agreement with Circle Communicatimns of Arlington to maintain and care for our two-way radio system for one year subject to cancellation with a 30 day written notice by afgkt�a either party. Motion carried. Jim Aancock was to h�ve some specificati�ns drawn up to repair, reclean, and repaint the overhead water storage tank. Theae speciEicatians was to be drawn up by an engineer capable of performing this wo rk. Bids would be asked for after specifications are drawn up and approved.
