The Citp Cauncil met in a regnlar sessian on �he abovv date thase present were
Mayor Woods, Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer, and Parker.
The minutes o£ the previous meeting was read and approved as read,
Mr. Rabert G. Scofield was interviewed by the council in reference tt� the position
of City Attorney.
A moti.on by Alderman Pirkle, seco�►ded by Alderman Parker to emplay Mr. Scofield
as City Afitorney for the City of Gragevine on a month by month basis at $S0.€?0 per
month for 2 or 3 hou rs work each month which wauld include writing light Qrdinances
and �neeting wfth the council gn a average of �n��� onee each month and verbal
conversatinn� by phane or office visits. Motia n carried by Alderman Parker,
Vandeventer, Huber, and Pirkle, and Benedict voting yes with no noes.
The building permit of John Francisco was discussed with Mr. Scofield and he
advised that it was not necessary far the City ta sign any release or statement
of violation with Mr. Francisco.
A motion by Alderman Benedict, se�onded by Alderman Auber to issue a building
permit ta Mr. John Francisca and Cameron Lumber Co.for the canstruction af a
t� car port in the Box Additimn on Lot 7 on Block 8 . Motion carried by a vote by
Alderman Benedict, Huber, Vandeventer, and Parker voting yes with no noes. Aldermaon
Pirkle teing absent.
The council asked Mr. Seafield ta study and submit ta the €����x�: an ordinanee
in reference to moving building and houses within the city or thru the c t W'thout
obtaining a pex�mit and also to wark aut same kind p� a ordinance ,.{��i�`��N o2
hal l f rom bein g pu� in the c ity. '°7
A motion by Alderman Vandeventer secanded by Alderman Benedict to table the matter
of Yas#i�x� vacating or abandoning the alley between the praperty of Gr�pevine
Gonerete Co. Inc. in Black 27 , lats 1,2,3 and 4 in the W.m. Dooley Survey ft�-
further study. Moti�n carrfed by alderman Bet�edict, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker
votin� yas w#:th no noes, Aldearntan Pirkle being absent
Grapevine Co�crete Ca. , Inc. was to be con'tacted about �n approach being bui2t
for their trucks where they enter onto the City streets so as ta prevent damage
to the city stre�ts.
A motion by Alderman Vandeventer, seconded by Alderma� Parker to authorize the
City Secretary and Pub2ie Works Direetar ta correct the sewer line troubie �ehin�
Smith�s C�fe and other bu�inesson the south side of th� Highway goi.ng east from
Smith's cafe to Dooley Street. This wiil require the buildis�g of a new sewer line
with an approximate coat of $1,500.OQ. q�otion carried by a vote of Alderma� Parker, ;`
Vandeventer, Huber and Benediet voting yes with no i�oes. Alderman Pirkle being absent. _

A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderman Huber to employ Freese, Nichols,
and Endres�, Consultng Engineers, to start to work on a solution to correct the
sewer prob�em that no� exist on the Vilbrig property as soon as possible. Motion
carried by alderman Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, and Benedict voting yes witth no noes,
Alderman Pirkle being absent.
Mayor Woods appointed Alderman Vandeventer to try and work out some agreement or
solution with the Fire Departa�nt on filling swimming pools with water and report
his finding to the enuncil.
Alderman Parker made a motion, seconded by Alderman Huber to accept the attached
City Organization Plan that is to be employed by the City of Grapevine. Motion
carried by Alderman Benedict, Huber, Vandeventer, and Parker voting yes with no noes.
Aldeman Pirkle being abse�t.
Mayor Woods suggested to the council for them to begin to think about employing
two paid firemen and having the fireman durin g the day to do maintenance work �
on the fire trucks and other city vehicles and at night to do the police and
fire radio dispatching. This will save the citizens of Grapevine several dollars
in insurance premiums and will help in having a more effecient fire department in
answering fire calls and help in keeping the city vehicles in better conditinn.
�� The taxi-cab franchise of Mr. Love from Irving, Texas was discussed and Mr. Love
was to be advised that the city was interested in the taxi-cab service but not
in a five year franchise to start with at this time.
Mr. Joi�n Telford talked with the council in reference to trying to get his rental
fee lowered at the lake. Mr. Telford was to get more information on the average
rental being charged at the Lake.
