HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-06-18 Regular Meeting June 18, 1963 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor woods, Aldermen Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer, and Parker. Alderm� �enedict being absent. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. Mr. Ray Waters, a former policeman of Grape�rine, met with the Council stating that the City failed to pay him $25.00 per month for 5 months totaling $125.00 in salary that he was supposed to have gotten after working three months. He also stated that he was not adviaed that he would haave to move to Grapevine when he was hired. 'This w as Mr. i�aters Statements before the Council. Mr. Waters was dismissed April 30, 1963 with an additional two weeks pay at that time. H motion by Alderman Vandeventer, seconded by Hlderman Huber �or "` the May or to appoint a committee to investigate this statement " of Mr. Waters to the council and report their findings to the , councii. Motion carried by Aldermen Pirkle, Hu3�er, Vandeventer, and Parker voting yes with no noes. �� Mayor Woods advised the committee that is now �°�udy the Police department needs, etc. be advised to investigate this statement of Mr. Waters and report their finding to the council . Committee is composed of Hlderman Pirkle, Huber, and Benedict. Mr. Joe Paul Jones with Freese, Nichols, and Endress consulting engineers gave the council a brief d�scription of the 701 plan the state and federal government particpate in making a Master Plan for the city. He also explained the Master Plan of a city to the �auncil . The committe appointed to study the needs and activities of the Police Department advised the council their study had not been completed so they wo�ild try and have a report for the council at the eext meeting. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Huber to adopt the Ordinance requiring a permit for anyone moving a ho�se or building in or thru the city of Grapevine as Ordinance #63-5 Motion carried with Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber and Pirkie voting yes with no noes. Complete Ordinance on file in the Ctty of Grapevine �s Ordinance Book as Ordiaence # 63-5• One bid was received on the Asphalt Maintenance Spreader from the Graham Company of Graham, Texas in the amount of �z55.00. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to re3ect the bid on the Asphalt Maintenance5preader submit��d by The Graham Co. and contact some of the company �s that handle this type of eqwpment and see if they can sell this for the City. Moti �n carried by Alderman Parker, Huber, Vandeventer, aad Pirkle voting yes wtth no noes. Secretary was to talk with the City Attarney about the legality of our weed ordiances # 5�-13 and 57-19 before taking any action on issueing tickets for the violations. Discussion was given on purchasing a Heavy Duty Blade for the Fergerson Tractor to be used to spread dirt, fili ditches, etc. in the street and water departm�nts. Secretary was to get some prices on a blade and preseGt them to the council for their consideration. The Tax Equili2atiort Board will meet June 28, 1963 for the City and Schoo2 wili be held at the School Administration building. A letter from Hartford Accident 8 Indemnity Co. was read and discussed. The council advised the City Secretary to secure proposals of cost of a MAster Plan for the City from the two Engineering firms of Freese, Njchols, and Endress and Henningson, Durham and Richardson with the State and Federal Government particpating in the cost of these plans along with the City. Sample ordinances was to be gotten on regulating trailer parks so the council may make a study of these ordinances. No further business meeting ad,journed. -� ity y aY°
