HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-01-21 Regular Meeting January 21 , 196� The Clty Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. Mr. Robert Gray, President of Shasta Trailors, of Los Angles, Cal . explained his plans of opening a trailor factory here in town on the Leslie Hill property if he can secure the property. He plans to build a 12,000 square foot building to begin with and plans to build two additional building of the same size within a year or two as bussiness warrants. He is to employ approaimate 50 persons to begin with. His plans are to buy abo 'ut 5 acres from Leslie Hill next to Denco Mills on the East Dallas Road. He ask the council to run an 8" water line to the property and to run sewer to the property. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Parker to inform Mr. Gray that the City will agree to lay a 8" water line and a sewer line to the portion of the property tha t Mr. Gray buys from Mr. Leslie Hili if Mr. Gray buys the land and builds his factory there . Motion carried by Alderman Benedfct, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. _ A motion by Alderman Parker, seconded by Alderman Benedict to � build a dog pound at the sewer disposal plant and hire Mr. Buddy Tate to catch, ta�e care of and dispose of the dogs for a sum of �1�..00 per dog. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirgle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Secretary was to contact Henningsnn, Durham and Richardson, Engineers in reference to working out a Pro-rata ordiance for the Ci ty. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to adopt and pass Resolution R6L}.-2 calling for an election for April 7, 1964 for the purpose of electing three aldermen for Places 3, 4, and 5. Motion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, V$ndeventer and Parker voting yes with no: noes. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Parker to raise Jesse Williamson salary to �400.00 per month effective February 1 , 1964.
