HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1971-038 ORDINANCE N0. 71-38 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE NUMBERING OF ALL HOUSES, ESTABLISHING A BASE LINE AND PROCEDURE OF NUMBERING, RESPONSIBILITY OF OWNER, SIZE OF NUMBERS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, THAT: �'"'"' SECTION I � BASE LINES: Main Street and its continuation by imagin.ary line through the City from North to South and Northwest Hwy. (Loop 382) and its continuation by imaginary line through the City, from East to West, are hereby established as the base lines from which all houses are to be numbered in the City. SECTION II PFcEFIX TO STREET NAMES: The letters N, E, S, and W, in- dicating the four (4) cardinal points of the compass, shall be added, respectively as a prefix to the names of all streets, avenues, and thoroughfares in the City, as their direction from the base line may indicate . SECTION III NUMBERING FROM BASE LINES: All houses shall be numbered from the base line of the street on which they are located, a number shall be assigned each twenty-five feet (25 ' ) , out such �„ street, in regular order, the even numbers to be on the North and West sides of the streets, and the odd numbers to be on the South and East sides of the streets . � SECTION IV ASSIGNMENT OF NUN�ERS: It shall be the responsibility of the City to assign the proper numbers for all houses. The owner shall state the name of the street, lot number, block number, side thereof upon which is situated, and the direction and exact dis- tance from the nearest cross street. A complete record of the numbering of all houses and buildings shall be kept by the City; ' such record shall be supplemented and amended from time to time, when necessary. House numbers shall be public property, �nd sub- ject to change by the City, with or without notice . SECTION V OWI�TERS TO PLACE NUl`�ERS: Owners of houses in the City are required to place or have placed thereon the proper street number as designated by the City, in some conspicuous place so that the same can be plainly seen and read from the street. � � �� �ECTTON VI N'UMBERS; SIZE: The numbers shall be at lea�t three inches {3��} high, and composed t7f same bright metal, plastic, or similar durable material; and same shall, as foresaid, be placed in a conspicuous place on the house.
