HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-04-07 Regular Meeting� .. �' April 7 , 1964 The City C�uncil met in regular session on the above date those present w�er� Mayor Woods, Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle , Huber, Vandeventer and Parker. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. Mr. Tom French discussed the idea of disignating the Grapevine Public £.ibrary as the official archive for the preservation of materials pertaining to community history. This material will then be available for study and research to interested persons of our community. Alderman Benedict made a motion which was secnnded by �lderman Pirkle to pass Resolution R6L�-L�. designating the Grapevine Public Library as the official archive for the preservatinn ofmaterials pertaining to community history and do hereby authori2e and direct the City Librarian to accept such historical materials as may be contribu�ted th'rough the years, to organize and preserve the same and to make such materials available for study and research to all serious students of community history, also to approiate a sufficient amount of money to build cabinets suitable to house the material that may be displayed in the Library. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Mr. Post discussed the rezoning of his lots 6 and 7 in Block 2 of Hilltop Addition. Also the drainage was discussed on his lots and that area. Council advised Mr. Post that they would not make a decisi0n on the rezoning unless the Zoning Board made some kind of a recommendation to the council . H motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to accept the recommendatipti of the Planning and Zoning B�$�'d to rezone Lot 29 i n the Doo 1 ey Survey f rom "B" Dwe 11 i ng to "J 8� K" I ndus t r i a 1 Districts. Motion carreid by Hldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. City Mr. Leon Ward met with the council asking that the�recind Ordinance No. 63-12, prohibiting Pool Halls within the City, the council did not feel that this ordinance should be recinded at this time. . Dr. Wilkinson presented to the council a copy of an Ordinance that the City of Flower Mound has passed authorizing Southwestern Sta'�es Telephone Co.to place in effect the following schedule of rates: �� _ •.�,� Business - One Party �11 .00 Business - 'I1�vo Party 5.00 Business Eatension 1 .75 Residence- One Party 6.50 Residence- 11+vo Party 5.50 Residence- Four Party 4•75 Residence ExtEnsion 1 .25 �emi-Pubiic .t�2 per day These rates to be placed into effect the first billing date of the Southwes��rn�:States Telephone Co. upon its establishing and placing into operation extended area service between the Grape�Ine , Texas exchange of the 5outhwestern States Telephone Co, and the Lewisville, Texas ex.change of the Southwestern States Telephone Co. extended area service is further defined as the eliminatinn of toll or long distance charges between Grapevine, Texas exchange and the Lewisville, Texas exchange. Secretary was to call Southwestern Sta tes Telephone Co. and see if they wanted to talk with the City on this proposal of telephone service, A motion by t�lderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Huber to hire Henningson, Durham and Richardson, Planner and Engineers to do the Master Plan for the City without the aid of the Federal and State Governments for a total price of �7,000.00 as per agreement. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle, and Benedict voting yes with no noes. : A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by ,4lderman BQnedict to lay an 8" water line along Highway 121 from the intersection of Church �treet to jts t southwest of the Railroad underpass on Highway 121 , an appraximate distance of 1935�. Motion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle , Huber , VandBVenter and Parker voting yes with no noe s. Council agrees to go along with Freese, Nichols and Endress recommendations in regard to the contractor on finishing the work on the overhead water starage tank.
