This was discussed of # suggestions that Mr. Hines, City Attorney, had recommended. Quoting 1.,Ar. Hines, quote, "I would favor wording the franchise so that even though the present law permits a 2% gross receipts tax in >. The Lone Star Gas . � Co. representatives agreed with this but they advised their legal department would have to approve this. A motion by Alderman Harwell, seconded by Alderman Hayward to accept the Lone Star Cas Co® proposed franchise if the suggested paragraph in reference to the gross receipts tax is Added and it is acceptable to the legal department of Lone Star C s Co®, motion carriedv' The proposed ordinance, regulating the excavation iii, along, or across any public street or alley in the City was discussed, requir- ing a permit with a fee of $2.00. Discussion was given about not requiring NY a fee if no cutting into the streets was done® This ordinance was to be reworked and resubmitted for study® Texas Power & Light Co. submitted to the Council their proposal and recommendations for placeing additonal street lights along from Dove 'ter:: of SH 121 & 114 east of town, and also at the interesection of SH 157 and 121, and SH 121 and Loop 10.
