HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-04-18 Regular Meeting April 18, 1961 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Tip Johnson , Aldermen Harwell , Matthews, Kaker, Hayward and Deacon. The minutes of the previous meetigg was read and approved as read. � Mr. Barnett, Dr. Woods, and Mr. Jamison representigg the Presbyterian Church in a request by the Church to didicate an additional 40 � : to Walnut St. on the south side to the City. The church decided to withdraw their didication of Walnut Street. Discussion was given about the Presby�erian Church dedicating the south part of Ruth street and Eckley street from Walnut street south to the railroad tracks. The Church advised the City that they would dedicate Ruth Street to the City when the City is ready to open this street thru to Loop 10. OPening Eckley street would have to be considered by the church congregation before any committment could be made to the City on dedicateing this street. A letter from the Zoning Commission recommending that Block 29A-B in the Leonard Survery owned by Mr. A. L. Smith be re-zoned to C & D Dwelling District. A motion by Alderman Harwell , seconded by Alderman Hayward to accept the Zoning Commissions recomendation and approve the C & D Zohing as recomended�: 3�otion carried. A sample ordinance by the Texas Highway Department requesting t�t�t the ordinance be approved and passed reducing all speeds over 45 mi les per hour, 4�i1��A�X�AA�A�[�$�I�AX�48R$�P�X�jGXE$2C��C�DlX?3�gX�E to a � maximum of 45 miles per hour durr�gg contruction period at station 332 + 58.07 on 'SH 114, and Station 337 + 12. 15 on SH 114. A motion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderam Matthews that the Ordinance regulating speed be approved and passed. Motion carried. Ordinance 61-7 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING MAXIMUM LEGAL SPEEDS UPON CERTAIN • HIGHWAYS AND STREETS OR PARTS THEREOF WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIIUl�"TS OF 1HE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AS SET FORTH IN THE ORDINANCE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED �200. FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. Complete ordinance on file in City Ordinance Boo�. The aud it report of the corp of Engi neers was gone over by the Council and was accepted. The City is now spending approximately �2,500.00 on park improvements at this time. The water drainage problem along Lucus Drive was to be referred to the County for their help in secnring a water way easement to help drain Lucas Dr. into the lake. M, r. Jo� Box discussed with the co�ncil the probability of opening a houseing development ,just east of the Presbyterian Church and south of tge Box addition. � �� � d A motion by Alderman Harwell, seconded by Alderman Deacon to secure a sewer easement fro� H. Leslie Hill , and the St. Louis & Southwestern railraad to carry a sewer line south of the Box addition. Also to put a "Tt' in the 8" water line on Eckley St. so to serve Walnut Street �A� to the SH 11�. Motion car�ied. A motion by Alderman Hayward, seconded by Alderman Kaker to accept the annex�tion petition of Mrs Minnie M. Berry afld Mr. � Mrs M. �. Albano and a ordinance be passed to annex this land. Motion carried. Ordinance No.61-8 and 61-9 Passed and approved this date, co�plete ordinance on file in the City Ordinance Book. Floyd Deacon Alderman Place #2 -- Albert Harwell There will be no charge for Garbage to persons that have not had Mr. Thorapson� s pick up service up to April 6, 1961 . After April 20, 1961 every one that is connected to the City water system will be charged for residential garbage service within the City limits, �1 .50 per rnonth, those outside the City Limits will be charged $3.00 per month. Business �s will be charged by the amount of garbage they have to pick up and the number of pick ups each day, which will be set by the City Counci 1 . p,�a .r�� �!� rn Letters were to be written to each water cn�t0mer advising them of the garbage service ; that will be cornplusory for them at the above rates, this applies to those csstomers that are not taking the garbage service at the present from Mr. Thompson.
