May 2, 1961
The City Council met in regular session on the above date t�ose
presant were Mayor Tip Johnson, Alde�rman Deacon, Matthews, arwell ,
and Hayward. Alderman Kaker being absent.
The m3nutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read.
Insurance coverage for the City employees was discussed and the
Mayor was to talk with Mr. Hines, City Attorney, in reference to the
City setting up it•s own insurance coverage by placeing an amount of
money aside in an insurance fund each month or each year to take
car�e of any mishap that might occur or involve any City employee
in the line of duty. This was to�worked out and presented to the
coti�cil for their recommendatinns and approval .
A petition from Frank, Bernice Thweatt and R. W. , Elizabeth
Lipscomb to be annexed into the City of Grapevine was received.
A motion by Alderman Deacon, seconded by Alderman Matthews to
accept annexation petition. Motion carried.
Ordinance No.61-13
Annexing Thweatt and T,ipscomb property, complete ordiance on
file in the City�s Ordinance Book.
The statement from Freese, Nic hols and Endress Eggineers was tabled
until next meeting night.
The Oath of Office was taken by Mayor Johnson, Aldesunan Deacon,
and Aldc�man Harwell and was officialy sworn irrptheir repective
�fff�ee�s.
The curbing in front of Mr. Earl Shookey � s house was discussed
and suggested that some of the citizens of the City of Grapgvine
take up donatinns toward paying for this curbing done at his house..
A list of all the l��Qi� elderly people who have no income outside
of their old age pension or relief checks was to be made. The
� council will then go over these names and d��Cermine if they are
unable to pay for their garbage pick-up service,� And any one
comeing in and ask to'Prelieved of this garbage service and are
unable to pay for this service, their names will be presented to
the council for their recommendatinn.
All the church�s, Masonic Lodge, and the Odd Fellows Lodge will
be exempt from the Garbage charge.
A m�3�nimum rate for Garbage service to the business �s was set up
as fo ows:
For 2 days a week pick up �X��S% will be �1 .50 per month plus
the amount of garbage handled.
For 6 days a wekk pick up �X�f�£�C wi 11 be �La...50 per month plus
the amount of garbage handled.

For 6 days a week pick ut�, twice a day service,, the rate will _
be determined by the amo�nt of gar�age handled, and the rate �
will be set by the City Council .
A motion by Alderman Deacon, seconded by Alderman Harwell to
authorize the Mayor to continue with the street work and if the
money runs out before addit�onal bonds may be issued, then he was
to talk with Uvalde Construction Co. to see if they would carry
the �ity until money is available from the sale of the bonds that
has been authorized by the voters. If they will not, then the
Mayor is authorized to borrow the money to continue the street
work. Motion carried .
Extension of Eckley street was ta��ed until further i nformation
was available .
The selling of the alley by Mr. Cates was to be brought up at the
next meetina.
