HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-08-15 Regular Meeting �. � ,� August 15, 1961 ;� The City Council met in regular session on the above date, those present were Mayor Tip Johnson, Aldermen Kaker, Harwell , Mathews, Hay�rard, and Deacon. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. �ameron Lumber Co. was not in agreement at this time in paying one- half of the cost of retopping Surrey Lane and Drexel Dr. Mr. Cluck met with the council protesting paying two minimums for his two house �s using water thru one meter. The water Ordinance 59-8 was read to Mr. Cluck, which calls for duel cvnnections paying . two minimums charges. Mr. Cluck was to be given a copy of the water ordinance. Mrs Webster and brother met with the council to discuss the City goir�g into a sewer refunding contract with her for Lakewood A�ares. She h�d a letter dated June 8, 1955, signed by the City� Secretary advising her the City would go into a sewer refnnding contrect with� her at that time. Mr. Nichols gave a report to the council and Mrs Webster an estimated cost of furnishing Lakewood Acres sewerage service, after making a more detailed study, the estimated cost rvould be about �!}.t.}.,000.00. Mr. Nlchols aduised that it was not practical or fesible to serve this area due to the cost of installing the sewerage service. Council advised Mrs Webster that it would take some study on this matter befoce the council could give her a dPfinite answer, but would try to give her an answer by the lst reg�iiar meeting in September, 1961. Mr. �ooley and Mr. McElroy met with the council to answer some questions about the methods they employed in apprai�ing the property in the City. Mr. Cooley advised that the property of Tom Maggard Motors could be raised next year to equilize his building with other building similiar to his. Although the Equilization board cut the valve of his building. By cutting his unit price put him in the same price as Mr. Herchel Wood. No changes could be made this year � as the Tax Roll has been certified for 1961 . Mr. Cooley seeraed to � think that the tax program had gone over very smooth, the only r�al dissatisfied tax payer was the Grapeviae Motel . � Bids was opened from five Oil Companies quoting prices to furnish the �ity with gasoline frc�m September 1 , 1961 to September 1 , 1962. Mr. Carl Simmons is being charged for three wat�r and sewer m�nimums as he has a house, apartment house, and service statinn be�g �urnished water thru one meter. He asked the City to write �r. Long in Irvtng, Texas, advising him to have water aand sewer put in at the service st�tian instead of using water thru his meter. Co.uncil decided it was not the pl�ce of the City to inform �r. Lang of this as the City had not made the agreem�nt with Mr. L�ng far the type of service he is receiving. Mr. Simmons was ta be �dwised of this by letter. Robert Stark asked the City to buy a $10.04 Motorola radio kit to be instal2ed on each mobile radfo unit trs eliminate the excess noise on t�ie radia�s. The total cost eight mobile radia units installed wi21 be �8fl.0a. Mr, Smith met with the council stating that his wrecker was not receiving a�ty wrecker calls anrl he did nc�t like fflr the police cars to set next to his service station to catch traffic violators.
