Clark; Aldermen� D. E. Dalton, R. F. Shelton, Norris L. Graham, Wm. H. Kaker , � R. T. Eidson; Secretary Hugh Millican. '� Minutes of the meeting of March L.�, 1958, were read and approved. Resolution No. R58-4, declarino the r�sults of an election ( R58-1.}�) held on April 1 , 1958, at which the f�llowing were elected : Wm. H. Kaker as Alderman, Place No. 3 Norris L. Graham as Alderman, Place No. 4 D. E. Dalton as Alderman, Place No. 5 was introduced and adopted on a motion by Alderman �'idson and second by Alderman Shelton. ( Filed in Ordinance Book. ) ' Resolution No. R58-5 setting speed limits on State Highways ( R58-5) 11� & 121 at 30 m.p.h. was adopted on a motion by Alderman Shelton and second by Alderman Kaker. Motion failed to receive a second. Alderman Kaker mov�d that the City discontinue the policy of (N?58-29) offerino a discount for early payment of 1958 taxes. AND STATE HIGHWAY I NO. 121 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LINIITS OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, ' � WHEREAS, there is an increase in the amount of traffic over � State Highway No. lli�. and No. 121 with an increase in the � , number of turn-ons and turn-offs said Highways, � WHEREAS, The existing traffic controls and speed limits are ; , inadequate for safe movement of traffic, � ',NHEREAS, Ordinance No. 54-8 authorizes the City Council to � �� set the speed limits on the streets within the corporate limits of the City of Grapevine and also provides that it ' shall be prima facie unlawful for any person to drive a ; vehicle at a speed in excess of any speed limit so declared � � when signs are in place giving notice of such limits . � NOW THEREFOF.E BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY ' OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, THAT: � � i 1 . On the following sections of streets shall be zoned for the I ~ . spesd limits indicated : I �!' A. State Highway RTo. 114 beginning at a point 500 feet �a�t of its intersection with ��.�t Wall�� �treet to its intersection with Dove . Road - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 30 m.p.h. B. State Highway No. 121 beginning at its junction with State Highway No. 114 at the tY� to a point 500 f. eet East of its intersection with County Road No. 30l�3 - - - - - 30 m.p.h. 2. This resolution shall be effective upon the the errection of proper signs indicating such speed zones and shall amend City of Grapevine Resolution No. ,5?-5 passed on the 2nd day : of Jv.ly, 1957• �� 3. The State Highway Department is hereby requested to make the necessary changes in their signs along the above mentioned sections of Highways to reflect the above speed limits. ATTEST: P�ayor � � . . ity Secretary RESO�UTION N0. 53-6 WHLREAS, Tarrant County, Texas is now in the process of acquiring right of way for various road and highway projects throughout the County, many of which do and will pass through and affect property lying within the corporate limits of many outlying municipalities; WHEREAS, the Commissioner + s Court and other officials vrho ma�Z or will be required to engage in the acquisition of such necessary right of way are fearful th�re may be in e�'f�ct certain ordinances passed and adopted by such mucipalities which mioht or could delay or handicap such County and officials thereof in procuring such right of way, WH�REAS, it is the desire of the Commissioners � Court of. Tarrant County, Texa°, that the governing body of the Ci. ty of Grapevine , Texas, pass and adopt an appropriate resolution delegating to said Commissioner � s Court and such other officials of Tarrant County whose duty, it may be to acquire such right of way, the powers and authority hereinafter provided and specified, NOUJ THEREFCR� B� I T RESOLVLD BY THE CI TY COUNCIL OF THE CI TY OF GRAPEVIN'�, T�XAS, THAT: There be and is hereby delegated to the Commissionerst Court of - Tarrant County, Texas , and to such other appropriate and necessary officials of said County any and all legal a�thority that may be - requd�red under the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, and any and all amendments thereof, and any and all ordinances of the City of Grapevine, Texas , now in effect, or v✓hich may here- after be adopted, to acquire right of way by negotiation, or through legal procedure within the corporate limits of said City. Be it furth�r resolved that said City sha11 mot, by the passage and adoption of this resolution, become or be in any manner liable or sub�ject to the payment of any cost,expense, or any damages in the acquisition of any such right of way, and that said Tarrant County, Texas, shall indemnify and hold said City free and harmless from any and all such cost, exp�nse and damages.
