HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-04-03 Regular Meeting Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Grapevine was r held on April 3, 1956 with the following members present: Mayor ' Joe D. Clark; Aldermen M. B. Austin, E. M. Pair, & R. F. Shelton; ' Secretary Hugh Millican; Aldermen Joe Box and R. T. Eidson absent. G. W. Smith appeared before the council to request that the city employ a nightwatchman for the business section along State High- Ms�'�3 way 114. Alderman Shelton moved that action on the request be delayed until such time as more study can be given to the request. Alderman Pair seconded the motion which passed by vote. Alderman Shelton moved that a water meter be set for the Grape- vine Cemetery Association on North Dooley Street at no tap MS�-�r� charge but the regular rnonthly water rate is to apply, pending their application. Motion was seconded by Alderman Austin and passed by vote. � Alderman Shelton moved that street lights be approved for the following intersections: MS�'�5 (1) Bellaire Dr. & Hanger Line (2) Bellaire Dr. & Hill St. (3) Hill St. & Terrace Dr. Alderman Pair seconded the motion which passed by vote. ' Alderman Shelton offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: Resolved that the Mayor of the City of Grapevine, Texas, be and is here- by authorized and empowered to make an agreement or contract in the name and in behalf of the City of Grape- �s�-Z vine, Texas, with Texas Power & Light Company for a term of ten years, beginning March 1, 1956, providing for a supply of electric power and energy to be used by the City of Grapevine, Texas, for street lights. Said agree- ment to be in the form submitted to this meeting. Motion was seconded by Alderman Pair and passed by vote, 3-0. The following zoning changes were presented for final adoption: (1) To change zoning classification from "A'• Dwelling District and "B" Lwelling District to t'G" Local Business District, an area extending from Dooley - 6'�6 Street 483' west along the north Right-of-Way of State Highway 114-121; thence ?23.4' north to City Limits; thence 480' east to Dooley Street; ' thence south along Dooley Street to State Highway 114-121. Ap� 1956 � ._.�` � 4/3/56 , ; -2- '� � � (2) Permanent zoning as "G't Local Business District, ' an area beginning at State Highway 121-114 and extending north 290' along Dooley Street; thence; east 200' to a point; thence south 290' to a point; thence west 200' along State Highway 121- 114 to Dooley Street (place of beginning). Alderman Austin moved the approval of the above as stated. i Alderman Pair seconded the motion which passed by vote, 3-0. � : i The following amendment to ordinance no. 55-6 was presented for i final consideration: � I WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of August, 1955, ordinance I SS-6 known as the zoning ordinance was adopted, and, i WHEREAS, since its adoption, certain changes have been considered a nd approved by the zoning Commission, NOW THEREFORE� BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF QtAPEVINE CUUNCIL OF THE CITY OF QtAPEVINE THATt ; �-� Section 8 of the ordinance No. 55-6 be amended to include the following paragraph: ; of�"z "(1) The following subdivisions of the City of Grapevine; Bellaire sec- tion A, Bellaire section B, Sky Harbor section A, Sky Harbor sec- tion B, shall have a front yard depth of not less than twenty- five (25) reet from the property line of the building, covered porch, or covered terrace, or attached accessary building," Alderman Austin moved the adoption of the above ordinance and Alder- man Pair seconded the motion which passed by vote, 3-0.
