HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-04-17 Special Meeting Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Grapevine was ' ' held April 17, 1956 with the following members present: Mayor Joe D. Clark; Aldermen M. B. Austin, �oe Box, R. T. Eidson, E. M. Pair, and R. F. Shelton; Secretary Hugh Millican. Motion by Alderman Pair that the City officially declare Mr. W. E. Guest in def ault in his agreement to pave streets within the Bellaire � ��5�l,� addition a.nd to notify the bonding company of this action was seconded by Alderman Austin. Motion passed by vote. Motion made by Alderman Shelton that the Mayor and Alderman Austin be authorized to negotiate terms of an easement from Elwood (;luck i �,�5`_($ a.nd wife for sewer line across their property to serve houses along North Main Street with cost not to exceed $100.00. 1�lotion seconded by Alderman Eidson and passed by vote. Motion made by Alderman Eidson and seconded by Alderman Box that ', �5�-19 the Utility Department oe authorized to purchase a power lawn mower and a portable water pump; motion carried. Alderman Shelton moved th at the City approve the agreement with /�5���� AreaUat thenGrapevine�Reservoir and torauthorizeSMayorltoesignke agreement. Motion seconded by Alderman Austin and passed by vote. � Alderman Shelton moved the adoption of the following resolution: WIiEREAS, within the Silver Lake Park area of the Grapevine Reservoir, there are at present several picnic tables available for public use, and, WHEREAS, the area around such tables is suitable for picnic use, and, WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine is intend-- �S�-� ing to further develop the area fog public use, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT The City of Grapevine declare its position with regard to these existing facilities by agree- ing to maintain the area and f acilities for continued public use. Alderman Austin seconded the motion which passed by vote. Mayor read letter of resignation from Thomas M. French, City Attor- f�s`��` ney. Alderman Eidson moved that the resignation be accepted as requested. Motion was seconded by Alderman Shelton and passed by vote. i Alderman Box presented a proposed petition concerning Amon Carter Field and Civil Aeronautics Board and moved its adoption. These interests collectively are large � taxpayers of the community and of the United States of America and as such ultimately bear a substantial share of the cost � and ex��ense of facilities provided by the United States of � America! in su ort of air trans ortatio� services for ass�n ers i PP P 1� b � mail, freight, and aviation in general. , il 3 , � . i � ' The petitioners are vitally interested in adequate scheduled air service for the area surrounding the City of Grapevine. The City of Grapevine is situated within a short distance ' � from Amon Carter Field, and the petitioners could secure such � service most logically and conveniently at Amon Carter Fie1d ; if adequate service can be provided there.
