HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - CDBG ProgramMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER q_ MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 17, 2015 SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING — 41ST YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION: City Council conduct a Public Hearing to receive public input relative to the proposed 41st Year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program street reconstruction project, authorize staff to proceed with the application submittal to Tarrant County and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are programmed as follows: $190,000.00 Community Development Block Grant Funds (Estimated) $191,531.00 City match from Street Division Permanent Street Maintenance Fund (PSMF) Account 174-43301-415-090. BACKGROUND: The scope of the project is the reconstruction of the 800 block of East Texas Street (from Ruth to Austin Streets) including new curb & gutter, asphalt paving, sidewalks on both sides of the road, handicap ramps and driveway approaches. The roadway reconstruction project is located in the College Heights Addition, CDBG Target Area designated as census tract 1137.05 Block Group 4, in the 2014 Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Low/Moderate Income Survey Data (LMISD). These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the areas by providing an improved travel surface for motorists and pedestrians in the neighborhood.
