A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE
MAY 1, 2021 GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING A MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS TO CITY
COUNCIL PLACE 1 AND CITY COUNCIL PLACE 2; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of an election held on the 1st
day of May, 2021 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, as appearing
from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 7,388 valid
and legal votes; and
WHEREAS, each of the candidates in said election received the following votes:
MAYOR
Nick Kaufman 1,400
William D. Tate 5,917
Under Votes 71
CITY COUNCIL PLACE 1
Paul Slechta 6,074
Under Votes 1,314
CITY COUNCIL PLACE 4
Breann Burke 1,219
Theresa Lopez Strayer 710
Sharron (Spencer) Rogers 5,040
Under Votes 419
WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites for the adoption of this resolution have been
met, including but not limited to the Local Government Code and the Open Meetings Act;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that the approval of this resolution is
in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
111 Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct
and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was
given in accordance with law; and that said election was held in accordance with law; and
that the following named persons were duly elected to the office indicated:
Mayor William D. Tate
City Council Place 1 Paul Slechta
City Council Place 2 Sharron (Spencer) Rogers
Section 3. That the said above persons are hereby declared duly elected to said
respective office, subject to the taking of the oath and filing bond as provided by the laws
of this State and the ordinances of this City.
Section 4. Per Article 3. The City Council of the Charter of the City of Grapevine,
each Council Member shall serve a term of three years, and until their respective
successors is elected, qualified and taken office.
Section 5. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date of
its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 12th day of May, 2021.
