HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06 - CDBGMEMO TO: FROM: MEETING DATE: SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER '6'- FEBRUARY 20, 2007 CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING -33RD YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM City Council conduct a Public Hearing to receive input relative to the proposed 33rd Year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program replacement of an existing six inch cast iron pipe (CIP) water line with an eight inch PVC line in Worth Street between Dooley Street and Austin Street, authorize staff to proceed with the submittal to Tarrant County and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: The City of Grapevine is proposing a total contribution of funds not to exceed $27,600.00 for this project. By providing these funds, the City's CDBG application can potentially receive additional funding from the CDBG program. The City's current commitment to this project comprises 20% of the project budget. Funds are available as follows: Funding Source Account Amount Award Percent 33rd Yr. BACKGROUND: The scope of the project is the replacement of an existing old water line in Wall Street between Dooley Street and Austin Street. The estimated cost for this project is $137,676.00. \\SATACH\CHDATA\CITYWIDE\AGENDA\02-20-07\33rd Yr CDBG-public-hearing.doc We do not know the total funds that will be made available through this year's CDBG program. If CDBG funding plus the City funding match does not meet the cost of construction after the bid opening, the City will be allowed to fund the remainder of the cost, or the project may be reduced in scope. This area is located in the Original Town of Grapevine, CDBG Target Area, designated as census tract 1137.052 in the 2000 Census. These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the area by providing an improved water supply system and fire protection.
