SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
VEHICLE EMERGENCY LIGHTING AND EQUIPMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of vehicle emergency
lighting and equipment from GT Distributors, Inc. through an Interlocal Participation
Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard).
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 325-48910-209-13-0021 and
325-48910-210-13-0013 (Capital Equipment/Machinery Purchase Fund/Motor Vehicles)
for an amount not to exceed $32,653.90.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal participation
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) as allowed
by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to GT Distributors, Inc.
The Fleet staff and Purchasing reviewed the contract for specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for
meeting the needs oft City. The Interlocal Participation Agreement satisfies all
bidding requirements under the Texas Local Government Code.
The Police and Fire Department received approval to purchase several vehicles in the
Vehicle and Equipment Replacement List for FY 2013 Budget. The emergency lighting
and equipment being purchased is for the up-fitting of the new vehicles and will be
installed meeting the specification. Staff recommends approval.
