SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF A
SPORTS COURT WITH INSTALLATION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of a sports court at the
Community Outreach Center with installation from Nexcourt, Inc., a sole source supplier.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 121-48850-312-15-0056
(Quality of Life) for a total amount not to exceed $89,720.00.
BACKGROUND:
This sole source purchase will be made in accordance with Local Government Code
Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022(a)(7)(A) per the specifications written by
the Parks and Recreation Department.
To further help identify the Community Outreach Center as a community park and
provide recreational opportunities to the community, GCISD Board of Trustees approved
an addendum that allowed for the installation of a multi-purpose sport court (basketball,
soccer, tennis, volleyball).
Staff recommends approval.

PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252,
Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (A) to consider items available from only one source
as an exception to the bidding requirements of the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Nexcourt Inc. is the sole source provider in our marketplace for this
departmental specified sports court; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department has the need
for a new sports court; and
WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites for the adoption of this resolution have been met,
including but not limited to the Local Government Code and the Open Meetings Act; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that the approval of this resolution is in
the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of a sports court and installation services from Nexcourt Inc. for the total amount of
$89,720.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said sports court.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
