SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF BID 391-2012 FOR STORM
DRAINAGE PIPE FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the award of Bid 391-2012 to Contech Engineered
Solutions for the purchase of 1900 linear feet of 48" storm drainage pipe for the Public
Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 116-48941-535-1-000011
(Port America Place Drainage Channel) with the total cost not to exceed $57,760.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is for 1900 linear feet of 48" storm drain pipe. This pipe will be used to up-
grade the drainage channel in the Port America Place Warehouse Complex. Pipe will be
installed by city staff.
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 205.041 (a). The bid advertisement was listed on
June 14, 2012 and June 21, 2012. The bid was opened publicly on June 29, 2012 at
10:00 a.m.
Through the City E-Bid system, 47 vendors were invited to bid; 22 vendors viewed the
bid; 10 vendors submitted bids with two of those vendors submitting $0 which is
considered a no-bid. (See attached bid tabulation).
Contech Engineered Solutions was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder
meeting specifications.
Staff recommends approval.
