RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider an award to Andritz Separation Inc. for services to refurbish the belt filter press at the Waste Water Treatment Plant in an estimated amount not to exceed $347,000. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are budgeted in account 200- 43370 -534 -0 Utility Enterprise Fund 1 Permanent Capital Maintenance 1 Wastewater Treatment Infrastructure Maintenance BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was poster{ in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on December 2, 2010 and December 9, 2010. The bid was opened publicly on December 20, 2010. The purpose of this bid was to refurbish the existing belt filter press at the wastewater treatment plant which is an essential piece of equipment for processing solids. The belt press is more than 20 years old and has not had any major rehabilitation work performed on it since installation. The recommendation to refurbish the press was based on the problems that have been experienced over the last few years. This work consists Of a complete rehab of the press to bring it back to design specifications. Along with the bid advertisement, bids were issued to six vendors with two vendors responding. Andritz Separation Inc was the low bid and after an evaluation completed by the Public Works division was deemed to had met all qualifications of the bid that was outlined in the specifications. The other bid was from WBI Inc, who submitted a no bid. Staff recommends an award to Andritz Separation Inc. for services to refurbish the Belt filter press at the Waste Water Treatment Plant in an estimated amount not to exceed $347.000. GR
