HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Public Streetscape ImprovementsITEM # U MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER V` MEETING DATE: MAY 15, 2007 SUBJECT: PUBLIC STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS CONSTRUCTION AWARD OF CONTRACT — FAIRFIELD ON MAIN STREET GRAPEVINE TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT RECOMMENDATION: City Council consider awarding the Public Streetscape Improvements Construction Contract to C & C Concrete, Incorporated for the pedestrian enhancements adjacent to Fairfield on Main Street in the amount of $ 422,633.10, authorize the City Manager to execute said contract, and take any necessary action. In its meeting of April 13, 2006, the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) approved the City's applications and authorized $ 800,000 in funding to be matched bythe Local / Private partner in the amount of $ 200,000. The City Council adopted Resolution No. 2006-38 on June 6, 2006 that: • Supported Sustainable Development in North Texas • Authorized City participation in the NCTCOG Sustainable Development Program • Committed to fund the 20% Local cost share The project extends along Main Street from Franklin Street south to Nash Street and along the south side of Dallas Road and the north side of Nash Street bordering the Fairfield site. The project establishes a pedestrian friendly environment bordering the Fairfield site and extends that environment up to Franklin Street with elements including: Wider sidewalks New sidewalks Handicap Ramps New Curbs Improved Pedestrian Access — West Leg Patterned Crosswalks @ Dallas Road Historic Streetlights Trees Landscaping Benches Trash Receptacles Bike Racks Hudgins @ Main One requirement of the NCTCOG funding program is that the City serve as the contracting party for all of the improvements in the project, funded privately and publicly, forthem to be eligible for reimbursement. Bids were opened on May 8, 2007 for the referenced construction project. Four bids were received as follows: C & Concrete, Inc. $ 422,633.10 Greenscaping $ 629,528.10 American Civil Constructors $ 721,005.00 Fair Group $ 893,680.29 0:\agenda\2006\12-19-06\Hughes Rd Utilities Dev Contract Memo This construction contract is for the privately funded improvements adjacent to the Fairfield property on Dallas Road, Main Street and Nash Street and is being paid for on the front end by Fairfield. We have received a check from Fairfield for this contract. Staff recommends approval.
