Call to Order II. Invocation – Dick Guckel III. Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. IV. Approve minutes from the October 5, 2021 meeting. V. New Business • Board Workshop VI. IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS 29th DAY OF DECEMBER 2021 AT 5:00 P.M. ______________________________________ Kevin Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met January 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS LIAISONS Roger Jones Duff O'Dell, City Council Liaison Pam Price Teri Rhodes -Cantu, Housing Authority Liaison Carey Miller Christine Szymaszek, GRACE Liaison Dick Guckel Isabelle Boyd, Active Adults Liaison ABSENT: Tena Burrell Betty Davis Jan Ramsey Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Kevin Mitchell, Director Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager Teresa Hiner, Administrative Manager Dick Guckel called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. Citizen Comments No Comments Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the October 5, 2021 meeting minutes. Motion: Rhodes -Cantu Second: Miller Ayes: Jones, Price, Miller, Guckel Nays: None Absent: Burrell, Davis, Ramsey Approved: 4-0 New Business Board Workshop Board members were presented with 3 questions and asked to come prepared to the meeting to engage in group discussion and provide feedback that could assist with the departments planning. 1. Identify an area in the Active Adults program that excels. 2. Is there an area in the Active Adults program that you would like to see the team improve? 3. What is your goal as a Senior Advisory Board member for 2022? Miscellaneous Board Items Duff O'Dell gave a city council update — First council meeting of 2022 occurs this evening. The city has a number of capital projects happening/planned. The City of Grapevine continues to be thriving. Council approved funds for road improvements in certain areas — such as resurfacing, etc. There are several new employee faces at the city due to several retirements in the past two months. Teri Rhodes -Cantu gave a housing authority update — They are opening up the waiting list on January 13"' beginning at noon. The list is currently at approximately 140. Christine Szymaszek gave a GRACE update — Just finished up the Christmas programs at GRACE, where over 800 families were served during the season. Friends and Families program partnered with the Women's Division, and through that 85 people received Christmas gifts. The Women's Division is putting together bags of general household items to help people. They are gearing up for assistance with rent and utilities. A vaccination clinic is coming up on January 10 from 4-7pm. VITA will be in the office to assist with tax prep this tax season. GRACE is hiring! Isabelle Boyd gave an Active Adults update — Isabelle, on behalf of the active adults, thanked the department for the 2021 Christmas Party. Everyone enjoyed it and it was very well done. The Active Adult choir has been invited to sing at the Vin Hotel as well as the Library and nursing homes. Trent Kelley gave a parks and recreation update — Trent announced Nadia Gentry as the new Active Adult Supervisor. Registration for tax aide this tax season has started. The computer program classes are about to kick-off for the year. Announced changed in Patrece Coblentz role. Dick Guckel announced his resignation from the Senior Advisory Board. Today's meeting would be his last meeting as a board member and as the chair of the board.
