HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2009-027 RESOLUTION NO. 2009-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN FACTS RELATIVE TO THE RATIFICATION OF STAFF ACTION TO CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE AND REPLACMENT OF AN EXPANSION BRIDGE AT THE MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine Municipal Golf Course was struck by a storm on June 10 and 11, 2009 that damaged an expansion bridge between the 5th and 6th holes of the golf course; and WHEREAS, after inspection,the bridge was found to be structurally unsound and to protect the public's safety, the bridge was closed; and WHEREAS, in order to relieve the necessity of the municipality's residents and to preserve the property of the municipality, City Staff contracted with Coursey, Inc. to remove the damaged bridge and put in place a new expansion bridge in the total amount of$68,517.50. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine ratifies and authorizes a contract with Coursey, Inc. to remove the damaged bridge and put in place a new expansion bridge in an amount not to exceed $68,517.50. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the contract and purchase. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 4th day of August, 2009.
