HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Warehouse InventoryMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER �6� MEETING DATE: MARCH 1, 2011 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN CITY WAREHOUSE INVENTORY DEEMED OBSOLETE, SURPLUS OR SCRAP RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider a resolution declaring certain City warehouse inventory as obsolete, surplus or scrap and authorize their sale through future public auctions as an ongoing business practice. BACKGROUND: This request is to approve a resolution for the sale of certain City warehouse inventory as obsolete, surplus or scrap based on monthly cyclical inventory counts and aged inventory analysis. This analysis is done on a monthly basis and will continue as a good business practice. The City currently has warehouse inventory that has become obsolete, surplus or scrap over time. The City warehouse inventory is utilized to support the various City departments with low total costs and immediate delivery of hundreds of items required throughout the City. Staff recommends approval of the resolution to declare certain City warehouse inventory as obsolete, surplus or scrap and to schedule auctions as needed for their disposal. :1*01 February 24, 2011 (10:35AM) 6�� �� c RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING CERTAIN CITY WAREHOUSE INVENTORY AS OBSOLETE, SURPLUS OR SCRAP BASED ON MONTHLY CYCLICAL INVENTORY COUNTS AND AGED INVENTORY ANALYSIS AND PROVIDING FOR THE AUTHORIZATION TO DISPOSE OF SAID PROPERTY WITH VALUE AT FUTURE AUCTIONS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City of Grapevine, Texas is in possession of certain City Warehouse Inventory that is no longer used and of little or no value to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That, as an ongoing monthly inventory management practice, certain items to this resolution are hereby declared obsolete, surplus or scrap. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to schedule auctions for the purpose of offering for sale certain City Warehouse Inventory and to obtain the best value possible for these items. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this 1 st day of March, 2011.
