SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE FOR THE BAYLOR PARKWAY LANDSCAPE AND
IRRIGATION INSTALLATION
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote for Baylor
Parkway landscape and irrigation to Benchmark Gardens, LLC.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in the unencumbered balance of the Council
Quality of Life Fund in the amount not to exceed $33,492.28 due to the $700,000 saved in
the State Highway 26 landscaping project.
Quotes were requested and received by the Parks and Recreation Department from
landscape companies that are capable of performing landscape and irrigation work in
medians.
Three companies submitted informal quotes for the project:
VMC Landscaping $42,716.85
Hunt Contracting $35,000.00
Benchmark Gardens, LLC $33,492.28.
Of the three quotes received, Benchmark Gardens, LLC submitted the lowest quote
meeting specifications.
The rebuilding of Baylor Parkway due to the connector project removed the existing
landscaping. The proposed new landscaping would match what is currently being installed
on the medians on SH 26. The landscaping is a blend of evergreen trees and native low -
water requirement plants.
Staff recommends approval.
