SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER #1 FOR
RENOVATIONS AT DOVE POOL

Staff recommends the Council approve Change Order #1 for renovations of Dove Pool,
bathhouse and mechanical building in the amount of $111,412.66 to JC Commercial.
Attached is the Application and Certificate for Payment, including the amount of the change
order.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for Change Order #1 is available in the unencumbered balance in the Council
Quality of Life Fund due to the $700,000 saved in the State Highway 26 landscaping
project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Council awarded a contract to JC Commercial Inc. at the October 2, 2012 meeting for
the renovations at Dove Pool and Dove Bathhouse. The amount of the contract was
$2,710,977.
Change Order #1 is the result of several modifications to the pool, bathhouse and
mechanical building that were not known when the plans were issued. Specifically, there
were structural issues with the bathhouse and mechanical building walls, foundation and
roof that needed to be addressed as the contractor began doing renovations to those
facilities. Also, there were structural issues with the pool shell that resulted in additional
work by the contractor to complete the shell of the pool as specified in the plans. Major
items addressed with the change order include:
• Site communications conduit and cabling
• Replace existing doors, frames and hardware on mechanical building
• Bathhouse exterior lighting upgrade
• Repair of existing pool walls
• Replace existing roof structure on mechanical building
• North fence height increase and retaining curb
• Masonry changes in the pool bathhouse and mechanical building
Staff recommends approval of the Change Order.
