HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2006-070 RESOLUTION NO. 2006-70 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 7, 2006 4B SALES AND USE TAX ELECTION AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, a Home Rule Municipality, located in Tarrant, Dallas and Denton Counties, Texas; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes Art. 5190.6, the City of Grapevine duly called an election on November 7, 2006, for the purpose of presenting to the voters a proposition to increase the sales and use tax as permitted and for such purposes as prescribed under such statute; and WHEREAS, the Proposition was stated on the ballot as shown in Exhibit "A"; and, WHEREAS, the Tarrant County Election Judge certified the following election results: Early Election Day Ballots Marked Voting Total Votes Results Results FOR: 3694 4365 8059 AGAINST: 1225 1674 2899 TOTALS: 4919 6039 10958 WHEREAS, the results of the 4B election, as canvassed and tabulated above, that said election was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Election code and that the proposition passed by a vote of 8059 to 2899. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was duly published, and that said election was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Election code and that the proposition passed by a vote of 8059 to 2899. Section 2. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date of its passage.
