These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the area by providing improved water quality and better fire protection. Typically the City does not have to match CDBG funds at the one to one ratio as is proposed with this project's scope. We have included the bore and waterline under the railroad and have been offered unit prices better than if we were to bid the bore as an individual project. R:\AGENDA\08-21-07\32nd Yr CDBG-award.doc Staff anticipates next year's CDBG project to be the replacement of an existing waterline within Worth Street between Dooley Street and Austin Street. There were a total of five bidders on this project. The bids were as follows: CONTRACTOR Skyline Excavation Bristow Contracting Gra-Tex Utilities Redline Services Jackson Construction BASE BID $128,026.00 $163,883.00 $177,082.50 $177,225.00 $201,634.00 The low bidder, Skyline Excavation, has been identified as an acceptable choice for this type of project. The contract schedule for the project establishes a construction time of 90 calendar days. Staff recommends approval, R:\AGENDA\08-21-07\32nd Yr CDBG-award.doc
