APPROVAL TO AWARD BID 365 -2011 TO PURCHASE POLICE
AND FIRE PURSUIT VEHICLES
City Council to consider award of Bid 365 -2011 to purchase four Chevrolet Tahoe Police
Pursuit Vehicles from Classic Chevrolet and one Chevrolet Tahoe Fire Vehicle from
Caldwell Country Chevrolet for a total amount of $126,831.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted in account 325- 48910 - 209 -10 -2011 Capital Equipment/Machinery
Purchase Fund /Motor Vehicles /FY 2011 in the amount of $156,000 and 325- 48910 -210-
2011 Capital Equipment/Machinery Purchase Fund /Motor VehicleslFY2011 in the
amount of $38,000.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Subchapter C, Section 252.041 (a). The bid 365 -2011 was
advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on March 3, 2011 and March 10, 2011.
This request is to purchase four 2011 Chevrolet Police Tahoes and one 2011 Chevrolet
Fire Tahoe as replacements for units 92105, 92145, 92175, 92256 and 10702. All
vehicles were approved for replacement during the budget process for this fiscal year.
Each vehicle has reached the replacement criteria of life cycle cost, time in service and
special circumstances.
Bids were issued to seven vendors with three vendors responding. The lowest
responsive /responsible bid received for the Chevrolet Police Tahoes is from Classic
Chevrolet and the Fire Tahoe lowest bid is from Caldwell Country Chevrolet. (See
attached bid tabulation.)
Staff recommends award of the four Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles to Classic
Chevrolet for $100,984.00 and one Chevrolet Tahoe Fire Pursuit Vehicle from Caldwell
Country Chevrolet for $25,847.
