SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE DONATION OF ONE
SURPLUS 1997 FORD AMBULANCE TO PARRAS DE LA
FUENTE, COAHUILA, MEXICO
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider a resolution for the donation of one 1997 Ford ambulance
#10407 to Grapevine's sister city, Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico.
BACKGROUND:
Ambulance #10407 was a reserve unit for the Grapevine Fire Department and was
retired from service in 2010. This vehicle is serviceable and in very good condition with
an estimated value of $22,000.
Based on recent visits to Parras by various City of Grapevine officials and
representatives over the last two years, they found their Fire Department was in need of
a more serviceable ambulance. Ambulances cover vast distances around Parras and
existing vehicles are from the 1980s. This ambulance will greatly enhance their
effectiveness again.
The Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Fire Department requests the Mayor and
Council to authorize the donation and present this ambulance to Parras Council
Members at the 25th Annual GrapeFest as a Silver Anniversary gift from the citizens of
Grapevine to the citizens of Parras.
The Parras Rotary Club will take responsibility of the vehicle in Grapevine and will
provide for transportation, handle customs documentation and pay associated costs
from Grapevine to Parras, Mexico.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY
SURPLUS; PROVIDING FOR THE DONATION OF SAID
PROPERTY TO PARRAS DE LA FUENTE, COAHUILA,
MEXICO; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City of Grapevine is in possession of
surplus property; and
WHEREAS, this item would be of use to Grapevine's Sister City, Parras de la
Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the preamble of this resolution are true and
correct and are hereby incorporated into the body of this resolution as if copied in their
entirety.
Section 2. 'That the following items are declared surplus and are donated to
Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico:
One 1997 Ford ambulance unit #10407
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to make the
above item available to Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
