HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Historic Preservation Commission� °' ° "llllllllllw'dl' MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW CITY MANAGER "0' MEETING DATE: JULY 5, 2011 SUBJECT: HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Consider an ordinance amending the Grapevine Code of Ordinances, Appendix G Historic Preservation, Section 3 (a) relative to reducing the alternate members from two to one. BACKGROUND: At the request of the Historic Preservation Commission Liaison, Council Member Wilbanks, the proposed ordinance would amend the Code of Ordinances to provide that the Historic Preservation Commission alternate positions be reduced from two to one with the alternate position serving for one year per Section 3 (c) of Appendix G. LH June 28, 2011 (3:09PM) ORDINANCE NO.�� AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AMENDING THE GRAPEVINE CODE OF ORDINANCES APPENDIX G HISTORIC PRESERVATION RELATIVE TO ALTERNATE POSITIONS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, there currently exists numerous boards, commissions and committees within the City of Grapevine, Texas, handling a variety of affairs for the City; and WHEREAS, Section 3.07 (f) of the Charter of the City of Grapevine empowers the City council to provide for appointment to such boards and committees; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the best interest of the City to amend the structure of the Historic Preservation Commission relative to alternate positions. NOW, THERFORE, BE II'T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are incorporated in to the body of this ordinance as if copied herein in their entirety. Section 2. That the Grapevine Code of Ordinances Appendix G, Historic Preservation, Section 3 (a) first sentence of the paragraph is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) There hereby is created a Historic Preservation Commission (the "Commission ") composed of seven (7) members and one (1) alternate member, to be appointed by the City Council." Section 3. That the fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of Grapevine, Texas are inadequate to properly safeguard the health, safety, morals, peace and general welfare of the inhabitants of the City of Grapevine, Texas, creates an emergency for the immediate preservation of the public business, property, health, safety and general welfare of the public which requires that this ordinance shall become effective from and after the date of its passage, and it is accordingly so ordained.
