HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08 - Impact Fee Committee AppointmentITEM MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER 6� MEETING DATE: JULY 5, 2011 SUBJECT: IMPACT FEE COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT RECOMMENDATION: City Council consider appointing Mr. Chris Leighton to the five member Impact Fee Advisory Committee, and take any necessary action. BACKGROUND: The current committee is comprised of Mr. Dennis Luers, Mr. Tim Lancaster, Ms. Neva Frymire, Ms. Kathee Livengood, and Mr. Bob Meyers. The advisory committee performs the following duties: Advise and assist the City in adopting land use assumptions • Review the capital improvements plan and file written comments Monitor and evaluate implementation of the capital improvements plan • File semiannual reports with respect to the progress of the capital improvements plan and report to the City any perceived inequities in implementing the plan or imposing the impact fee • Advise the City of the need to update or revise the land use assumptions, capital improvements plan and impact fee. The State Impact Fee Legislation requires that at least two (40 %) of the committee members be representatives of the real estate, development or building industries. The two members serving in this capacity are Mr. Luers and Mr. Lancaster. Mr. Luers has advised us that he must resign due to an Illness in the family. Staff has approached Mr. Leighton about serving on the committee to meet the stipulated quota. Mr. Leighton, who is employed in the business development industry, has agreed to serve. Staff has reviewed the nomination of Mr. Leighton with Councilmen Coy and Stewart. Both have expressed their support of the nomination. Staff recommends approval.
