SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO AWARD A RENEWAL OF AN ANNUAL
CONTRACT OF BID 340 -2010 TO PROVIDE CONCRETE
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to award a renewal of an annual contract for Bid 340-
2010 to Manning -Concrete for concrete (flat work) construction services. Purchases will
be limited to the annual budgeted amount for this commodity.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 174 -43301 -090 -000 Street
Maintenance /Capital Replacement/Transportation Infrastructure Maintenance $120,000.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). Notice to bidders was published in the
Fort Worth Star Telegram on May 27, 2010 and June 3, 2010. The Bid was opened on
June 11, 2011.
This bid established fixed annual pricing for concrete construction services to be
purchased on an as needed basis by City Departments Including fixed square foot unit
pricing for concrete flat work and handicap ramps in various thicknesses and linear foot
unit pricing for retaining walls of various heights. The contract was for a one -year period
with an option to renew the contract for four additional, one -year periods. If approved
this would be for the first contract renewal period starting on July 19, 2011.
Seven vendors responded to this bid. The lowest overall unit pricing that met the
specifications and requirements of the bid was submitted by Manning Concrete.
Manning Concrete has provided this service in the past with satisfactory results and has
agreed to renew the contract with no increase in pricing.
Staff recommends a renewal of an annual contract for Bid 340 -2010 to Manning
Concrete for concrete (flat work) construction services.
