SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
FIREFIGHTER. UNIFORMS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract award to GST Public Safety, LLC
for the purchase of fire fighter uniforms to be purchased on an as required basis. Annual
purchases will be limited to the amount budgeted for fire uniforms.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in 100-42220-210-3 (General Fund/Fire Operations/Clothing
Supplies) in the amount of$68,000.
BACKGROUND:
This request is to approve renewal of an annual contract for the purchase of firefighter
uniforms. Purchases will be made as required and in accordance with an existing
interlocal agreement with the City of Bedford as allowed by Texas Local Government
Code, Section 271.102. Bids were taken by the City of Bedford and a contract was
awarded to GST Public Safety, LLC under bid number 05-1026.
Council approved a resolution on January 20, 1999 authorizing participation in an
interlocal agreement with Bedford. The interlocal and cooperative purchasing agreement
allows each City to purchase from existing contracts and satisfies all bidding
requirements under the Local Government Code.
The original bid was awarded on November 23, 2005 for an initial period of one year and
included four, one-year automatic renewals. If approved, this would be the fourth and
final renewal period.
GST Public Safety, LLC has provided this service to the City in the past with satisfactory
results and has agreed to renew the contract with no price increases. The City of
Bedford has approved this pricing and renewal. (See attached paperwork.)
Staff recommends approval of a contract award to GST Public Safety, LLC for fire fighter
uniforms in accordance with the interlocal agreement between the City of Bedford and
the City of Grapevine.
