SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENT
DUMP TRUCKS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to purchase four single axle dump trucks from
Bruckner Truck Sales, Inc. in the total amount of$343,573.76.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted in accounts 325-48910-415-10-2010 Capital Equipment/Machinery
Purchase Fund/Motor Vehicles/Public Works/FY 2010. Capital Purchases and 325-
48910-530-10-2010 Capital Equipment/Machinery Purchase Fund/Motor Vehicles/Utility
Water/FY 2010 Capital Purchases.
CBACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with a cooperative purchase agreement with
the State of Texas TXMAS program under contract number 7-23V020-8 as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. Contracts established through the
cooperative purchasing agreement satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local
Government Code. This contract is effective from November 10, 2006 through
September 30, 2010.
This request is to replace units 15837, 15847, 31405 and 30417. All trucks were
approved for replacement during the budget process for this fiscal year. Each vehicle
has reached the replacement criteria of Life Cycle Cost, Time in Service and Special
Circumstances. The attachments show the current age of the replacement vehicles and
the approved replacement criteria for each vehicle.
This request is in addition to two tandem dump trucks approved by Council at the
November 3rd Council meeting. Staff was waiting on confirmation of the availability of
2007 Diesel Engines recently produced for smaller trucks. Although these are 2010
trucks they will have the 2007 EPA rated Diesel engines and kept the cost within the
approved budgeted amount.
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the trucks from Bruckner Truck Sales,
Inc. in the total amount of$343,573.76.
