HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Landscape Equipment ITEM /1 MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL 22 FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER P MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 17, 2009 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF LANDSCAPE EQUIPMENT FOR THE MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of landscape equipment from Luber Brothers for the Municipal Golf Course in the total amount of$61,476.80. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 325-48860-340-10-2010 Capital Equipment/Machinery Purchase Fund/Machinery and Equipment/Golf. BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Luber Brothers under contract number 292-08. The Interlocal Agreement and Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local Government Code. This request is to approve the purchase of one fairway mower and one utility vehicle for the Municipal Golf Course. The fairway mower is a replacement unit for an older unit purchased in November of 1999. The fairway mowers are used to mow the fairways and the collars of greens and tees. The Golf Course currently has three fairway mowers. One was replaced last year. During the growing season, staff mows fairways a minimum of twice a week, Monday through Friday. Two of the three units are in use eight hours a day and one unit is in use on Saturday and Sunday. The utility vehicle is a replacement unit for one that was purchased in April of 2004. The replacement schedule for utility vehicles is five years. The utility vehicles are used for a number of different jobs such as hauling sand, soil, fertilizer, sod, tree limbs and people. November 12,2009(9:59AM) They pull implements like top dressers, sweepers, edgers and trailers. Many of them are run seven days a week, eight hours a day and are critical to the operation and efficiency of the Golf Course. Both vehicles were approved for purchase during the budget process for this fiscal year. Staff recommends approval to purchase the landscape equipment from Luber Brothers in an amount not to exceed $61,476.80. CD November 12,2009(9:59AM)
