The total cost of this agreement is not to exceed $31,739. FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100-44540-101-2 (General Fund/Professional Services/Technology). BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with a contract established through the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (contract # DIR-SDD-198). Contract purchases through DIR are authorized under Texas Government Code, Chapter 2054, Subchapter 2054.0565 (b) that states, "A political subdivision that purchases an item or service using a contract under this section satisfies any other law requiring the political subdivision to seek competitive bids for that item or service." This request is for the purchase of maintenance contracts to support the current software modules that operate as part of the City's computer networking system. The maintenance contract will cover maintenance on Novell, GroupWise and Suse Linux software. The contract will be for 12 months and start on October 1, 2009. SHI Government Solutions, Inc. is the sole DIR contractor for Novell software maintenance. The following items are covered under this agreement: 535 Ea. Novell Open Enterprise Server $16,050.00 594 Ea. GroupWise 7 plus Mobile Server $12,474.00 103 Ea. GroupWise WebAccess $ 515.00 12 Ea.
