APPROVAL FOR RENEWAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
A BOOK LEASE SERVICE THROUGH AN INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF GARLAND
City Council to consider approval to renew an annual contract with Brodart McNaughton
Book Service for the Library through an interlocal agreement with the City of Garland for
a total annual amount of $19,554.60.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 100 -44573 -313 -1 General Fund /Library/Leases &
Rentals $19,554.60.
BACKGROUND:
This renewed contract will be established under an existing interlocal agreement with the
City of Garland as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. Bids
were taken by the City of Garland and a contract with renewals was awarded to Brodart
McNaughton Book Service on bid 143 -09. The contract was renewed for an additional
term to expire on October 1, 2012.
The contract with Brodart McNaughton Book Service is for book leasing services to the
Library. Brodart has provided this service in the past as part of the Library's book
leasing program. The service provides a certain collection of recently published, popular
and best- selling books while the books are in high demand. Council approved award of
the initial contract on October 19, 2010. The renewed contract period is December 1,
2011 through November 30, 2012.
Staff recommends approval.
